The County received a Public Assistance award totaling $12.1 million from the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), a FEMA grantee, for damages resulting from Hurricane Wilma, which occurred in October 200S. The award provided 100 percent FEMA funding for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and permanent repairs to buildings and facilities. The award consisted of 9 large projects and 84 small projects.
