Kentucky’s Management of State Homeland Security Program and Urban Areas Security Initiative Grants Awarded Fiscal Years 2008-2010

The Commonwealth was awarded approximately $32 million in State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) and Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) grant funds over fiscal years (FYs) 2008, 2009, and 2010. Appendix A provides details of the objectives, scope, and methodology for this audit. During FYs 2008 through 2010, the Louisville UASI was awarded $1.4 million, $2.2 million, and $2.2 million, respectively. A FEMA official said that Kentucky did not score high enough on the UASI risk formula to receive funding in FYs 2011 or 2012.
