Hope Academy (Hope) in D’Iberville, Mississippi, received a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance award of $3.5 million for damages Hurricane Katrina caused in August 2005. Both FEMA and the Office of Inspector General had concerns about the eligibility of Hope as an applicant for assistance and about Hope’s purchase of land for permanent relocation of damaged properties.
