The Town of North Hempstead, New York, (Town) received a $36.6 million Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant award for damages from Hurricane Sandy, which occurred in October 2012. We audited four projects totaling $20.9 million for debris removal and emergency protective services.
